Yaara Libai, an undergraduate student at the lab together with our Danish collaborators in Aarhus university, Denmark shows that Ketones (3-OHB) has positive inotropic effect on cardiac oranoids, isolated hearts and heart failure patients. Ketones were not shown to alter conduction velocity or calcium handling. Unlike traditional inotropes, ketones do not decrease myocardial external energy.
